Bujoist Profiles

Meet BuJoist Mary Grace! (@chingona_journal)

My name is Mary Grace, and I live in Denver, Colorado. I grew up in Uruguay, Chile, and Colorado. I’m a community organizer in a few elementary schools in southwest Denver, serving our most under-resourced communities.

I’ve always been a planner, and I used to draw a lot as a kid. When I first saw the whole concept of a bullet journal, it all made sense. A Bullet Journal is the perfect combination of organization, goal setting, planning, and creative expression. As an added bonus, it’s incredibly helpful in reducing my symptoms of anxiety.

I’m definitely more of an artsy bullet journalist. I like to incorporate colors and stickers and as much Latinx influence. I like to see myself in my spreads. So my bujo governs my whole life; it is my agenda, calendar, my note catcher, and my space to create. I really like spreads with Dutch doors, I haven’t tried it yet but I I’m excited to!

My favorite materials to use include micron pens, watercolors and water brushes, Tombow Brush Pens, and washi tape/stickers! Sometimes I’ll doodle, but usually I just don’t have as much time to dedicate to my planner. Stickers are extremely helpful.

My advice is to practice and try new things. My lettering is finally coming along after I started to experiment, watch tutorials, and practice!
